Vista Hydration Promoter (VHP) is an inorganic composite made of oxides, hy-droxides and salts of alkali, alkaline earth metal and amphoteric oxides of Group IV element. It promotes rapid hydration of the glassy phases, of both Pulverized Fuel Ash (Fly Ash) and Granulated Ground Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS), Pulverized Air cured Bolder, other slag derived from Sponge Iron sector and so on, when blended with OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) clinker to manufacture composite cements like Portland Slag Cement (PSC) and Portland Pozzolona Cement (PPC). The precise role of VHP is to assist in rapid strength development of both PSC and PPC which are very slow setting unlike OPC. Rapid hydration of both Slag and Fly Ash, being secondary cementitous materials, saves concreting cost. VHP-activated Blended Cement is also economical due to low level of OPC clinker usage. The me- chanical strength and durability of such blended cements are superior to OrdinaryPortland Cement.

Application and Advantage :

Manufacture of premium brand high early strength PSC or PPC to compete OPC in terms of strength and durability.

Production of high strength blended/composite cement having higher loading of Slag or Fly Ash and less of Clinker to reduce unit cost of production yet maintaining the same level of strength and durability.

VHP allows incorporation of high volume of Fly Ash reducing proportionately OPC for concrete making in Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) business. As OPC is much costlier than Fly Ash, the unit cost of RMC is reduced.

Production of Fly Ash Bricks and Shapes. Use of VHP considerably reduces hydraulic/air curing time and quickens re-cycling of moulds; thereby increasing speed of production.

Rapid hardening Slag/Fly Ash cement based jointing mortar and plasters, making them water proof as well. Ceramic Tile Adhesives based on PSC or PPC harden thoroughly within 10-12 hours.

Reduction of heat curing time of cellular concrete blocks and shapes containing VHP together with Fly Ash saves energy cost.

Asbestos cement products — incorporation of more Fly Ash amounts to cost saving and carbon credit.

Dosage : Depending upon the composition and content of slag or fly ash and nature of clinker, whether from Rotary or Vertical Shaft Kiln, dosage may vary from 0.5 to 1.5% by weight of blended cement. It is advised to fix the dosage after carrying out Laboratory Test as given in "Testing Manual" supplied with this leaflet. The product is a commercial innovation keep-ing in view the business of blended cement manufacturing units and for those using blend-ed cement as Raw Material.

Grades :

Regular grade is meant for mini cement grinding units incorporating very high proportion of Slag / Fly Ash in manufacturing cement and which has non-structural usage like jointing mortar and plasters and similar applications, such as tile adhesives.

Super grade is recommended where the blended cements are used for structural con- cretes only and high strength and high durability are prime requirement. It is an excellent additive to upgrade cement quality for production of premium brand blended cement of high early strength or reduction of clinker yet achieving the bench mark quality.
